Education

I believe that having a great public education system should be a high priority for all of us. Here are a few things I believe the legislature can do to make the school system better:

• We should encourage a system where parents know what is being taught to their children and have good alternatives available so they can determine what works best for their own family.

• We should protect our teachers. We need to make sure that teachers have the same workplace protections as any other workplace. No teacher should be asked to continue in a setting where they are at risk of physcial harm or harassment. The legislature should not pass laws that add to the administrative burden that teachers have to bear.

• I have worked to visit with teachers to hear what is going well and what is difficult for them. Listening to administrators is also important, but the best information of how we are doing comes from those who are living through it.
